The Matthäi Group, one of the top 20 construction companies in Germany, continues its journey in 3D building printing: Following the independent realization of the first 3D-printed office building in Northern Germany in Selsingen, Matthäi Bauunternehmen GmbH & Co. KG from Bremervörde and Matthäi Schlüsselfertigbau GmbH & Co. KG are now jointly investing in their own 3D printing system from PERI 3D Construction.

From the initial project to the strategic decision
The company's entry into this innovative construction method came via a specific, in-house building project: In 2025, Matthäi Schlüsselfertigbau completed an office building using 3D printing – the first 3D-printed building in Northern Germany. However, this milestone and their own office building were not the primary focus. The goal was rather to comprehensively test the possibilities of 3D concrete printing under real-world construction site conditions and to gather solid experience for future projects.
Before the start of the construction phase, the Matthäi team received intensive training from PERI 3D Construction. Through several training and instruction sessions, the team learned how to operate the printing technology as well as the necessary procedures and processes on the construction site. This enabled Matthäi to implement the two-story building largely independently. During the construction phase, the project was only overseen by a supervisor from PERI 3D Construction, who provided support with technical questions and could intervene with advice when needed.
The successful implementation of the project not only confirmed the practicality of the technology but also impressed with its smooth processes, efficient collaboration, and the performance of the system used. Based on this positive project experience, Matthäi developed a clear strategic perspective: The company intends to continue using and expanding 3D concrete printing in the long term. The next logical step was therefore to invest in its own 3D printer with PERI 3D Construction as its technology partner.
Ready for a productive future
With the move to its own 3D printing system, Matthäi is equipping itself for innovative projects. The heart of the system is a COBOD BOD2 gantry printer in a 6-10-4 configuration. The resulting printing area, measuring 13.5m wide, 24m long, and 9m high, opens up a wide range of applications for Matthäi, offering ample space for impressive projects in both residential and commercial construction.

Partnership and foresight
The decision to implement an in-house system is far more than a purely technical investment. It represents a clear commitment to actively driving innovation and establishing new technologies in the construction industry for the long term.
As one of Germany's leading construction companies, Matthäi possesses extensive experience in planning, construction, and project management. This expertise is now increasingly being applied to its own 3D printing projects. By investing in its own system, the company is creating the structural prerequisites to independently implement future 3D concrete printing projects and to sustainably embed the technology within its own organization.
As a technology partner, we will continue to support this path with our system solution, our technical expertise, and our project experience. Together, we aim to further expand the possibilities of 3D concrete printing and successfully implement it in new projects.
We are very much looking forward to further cooperation and to many exciting projects that Matthäi will implement in the coming years.
